Cool relief

Too hot to think, write, garden (beyond watering) or cook. Last evening I found some relief in cool blue.

Beautiful hydrangeas! When I was young our neighbour was an elderly lady who had hydrangeas all down our shared driveway. There's a fence down the middle now, so it's nice to be reminded of how I used ride my tricycle past the flowers.

Hi Arwen. Yes, hydrangeas evoke memories for me, too. We grew blue ones on the north side of the family home when I was a teen. These ones are growing on the north side of our condominium garden. I'm so glad I took the photo Tuesday evening. We set a temperature record yesterday & the blossoms have started to shrivel and turn brown.

Best advice I can offer is do nothing.

Seriously. That's what I've learned over the last few scorching summers.

And drink LOTS of cooled green tea.

Thanks, Lucy. It's hard for me to do nothing and I get cranky. But I did read yesterday and had a nap. Also drank some lovely homemade lemonade made with organic lemons. Will try cooled green tea on your advice. -- have only ever had it hot.
