Beyond the balcony: Magnolias & Flowering Quince (Chaenomeles)
Tuesday, March 30, 2010
A few of the many, many photos I shot this weekend. The Magnolia liliiflora (top photo) is blooming in our condominium's garden. I'm not sure about the other magnolia's identity (second photo). The remaining photos are of several different flowering quince (Chaenomeles) shrubs all growing in private gardens.

These colours are amazing. Especially the third image - the colour in the pic looks really unique - and tough to partner anything with except white. I'm so jealous - still really grey and brown here and below zero at night.
I'm glad you enjoyed the colours. Yesterday & today were cold, blustery & wet so I'm not sure how many of these blossoms are still on the trees & shrubs. I'm so glad I captured them when I did.
I hope spring will come to you soon!
gosh... those are so beautiful!
Thank you, Allison.
I promise -- I'm coming to visit your blog & beautiful garden as soon as I finish a big project I'm working on. You may have noticed -- I'm even neglecting my own blog right now :-(.
