Friday Edition: Plums & Poetry

plums

This is Just to Say

by William Carlos Williams

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

Glad you all enjoyed the poem. It was a serendipitous find. All my plums (5.5 lbs) are still in the freezer, soon to be used in jam and crisps.

I do love that poem, never fails to make me smile in slightly guilty understanding.

And how lovely to have a freezer full of fresh plums.

My neighbour made a plum galette this weekend. Doesn't that sound lovely! I think before I start using the plums I better whittle down my long list of recipes I want to make with them. Galette definitely will make the short list.

I hope you're well, Kathryn. I shall be back to a more regular social networking schedule soon & look forward to catching up with you.
