Unexpected

in early December

i went seeking the striking berries

during the silver hour of the day.

but my timing was off --

or perhaps not.

on the other side of the seawall path

a clump of lavender chose to be

seasonally out-of-sync.

Beautiful timing, all around.

Simply gorgeous - lavender, even unseasonal, is one of my favourite plants.

Thank you, Denise & Tess. I'm happy to view lavender any month of the year, though I can't recall it ever before looking so fresh in December. We had a cold snap in November, but since then, the weather's been milder and relatively (for Vancouver) dry.
