Symphoricarpos albus and synchronized swimming -- both received a few moments of my attention during this afternoon's seawall walk:
Nature always creates the most beautiful palettes -- even when colouring with only white, grey and brown.

The virtual wastebasket is filled with discarded drafts. I've no small stones to share today. This doesn't mean I didn't pay attention to any moments this week. I did. But to put the perceptions and feelings into words, well, this morning that seems to be an impossible task.
I'm trying to write about water. This week I encountered it as snow, slush, rain, and in horrible, frightening, heart-breaking images of the Queensland floods. And now, stories from Brazil about the mudslides. Too much, too fast, unstoppable.
I was going to leave this post unpublished, but right after closing it, I checked twitter and read this:
Rather than fuss & make things more complicated than they need to be, I'm going to use this simple saying as today's small stone. I'm off for a walk around False Creek with Piper now so I'll have plenty of time to reflect on it.
