Hanami
Thursday, April 30, 2009
Throughout April, nearly every day I spent a few moments enjoying the cherry blossoms. Here's what I looked at and photographed this morning for .... at least 20 minutes, according to the camera time stamp:
Viewing sakura (hanami) is always sweet but especially this tree because it's in a very strategic location: in front of my workplace so I walk by it coming and going. A bit of beauty, grace and resilience to begin and end days that are "messy" (unpredictable at best) in the middle.

Oh that is stunning. It's almost scarily perfect.
It was a good day today in my garden, as the two miniature lilac shrubs I have by the back door burst into bloom, having been threatening to do so for days. The scent is exquisite.
On this particular tree, most of the blossoms were open at the same time.
I love lilacs so much, especially the deeper purple ones. I think the ideal place is where yours are growing, near the door so you can inhale their perfume every time you come & go.
