Monday morning is so much easier to face...

...after spending at least half of a sunny weekend outdoors & then working on garden tasks (e.g., setting up a grow-light system) while indoors.

I hardly made it outside at all this weekend. But you're right - it makes such a difference when faced with a new week. I will take this as prompt and inspiration to get on with my own garden tidying next weekend!

p.s just love that bottom photo

Hello, Sophie. I confess my balcony still needs a lot of tidying but I couldn't resist long walks on the weekend versus staying home to clean pots.

The view in the bottom photo makes me glad to live in this city and reminds me there are benefits to not having a HUGE garden that keeps me home every weekend.

I hope you soon will be in your garden enjoying pleasant weather, new growth, and well-behaved chooks who can't figure out how to cross the barrier between garden and chicken run.

Hi Elaine
Was tempted to purchase a lovely pot of hellebores at the nursery yesterday, but instead choose seeds and a couple of young agave. Isn't it great to discover blooms that another gardener has planted in anticipation of a spring display. I continue pining for the new growing season which still seems a ways-away. Please keep the signs of spring images coming - they are inspiring.

Love those snow drops! I must plant some next fall. Sunday I found crocuses poking their green tips up up through the soiil, but it will be a while before we have blooms. We are buried under 12 inches of snow again.

Hello, Kim. Oh, you exercised admirable self-control to not buy a Helloborus plant but I think you made excellent alternative choices. I'm curious about what you plan to grow from seeds this year.

Yay, Meighan. I'm so glad Squarespace has gotten wise and now lets you comment. After all, I need feedback from my gardening mentor/guru. I'm happy you liked the photos.

Sounds like you had a touch of spring, Kateri, but, oh no, how cruel -- fresh snow & a generous dump, too! We had a bit of snow today but it didn't accumulate. Yes, I much prefer snowdrops over snowflakes.

Hi Elaine
Seed order for Salt Spring Island Seeds is done and in the mail and my post confirming seeds I'm planting this year is scheduled to run on Saturday. Thanks for pointing me to the Seed and Plant Sanctuary as well. I joined as an active member. Should be fun!

Sounds great, Kim. I'm looking forward to your post. Vancouver's Seedy Saturday is this weekend so perfect timing. I'm hoping Salt Spring Seeds will be at the event.
