Prunus subhirtella 'Autumnalis Rosea'

Yesterday I trekked several kilometres along city sidewalks and seawall to reach my destination: a small stand of Prunus subhirtella 'Autumnalis Rosea' at Lost Lagoon, Stanley Park. Many thanks to my gardening friend, Meighan, for guiding me (with a Google map) to the right spot. Be sure to check out Meighan's glorious photographs of these sakura under blue skies. (After you view them, I'm sure you'll understand why the long walk was so worthwhile.)

As the snow flies and temps drop yet again on the other side of the Rockies, I am jealous. And trying to fight off symptoms of Spring fever. Lovely shots.

Hello Kim. I'd be lying if I said I missed winter's snow. (I spent my early childhood in Manitoba but I've lost my cold hardiness.) I'm quite happy to admire it on the mountains and from a distance. But I mustn't be smug about our weather. We could get low temperatures & snow this & next month.

Your snowy photos of your recent trip through the back country to Banff are gorgeous.

Gosh, is it that time of year already? How wonderfully cheering! We have a few daffodil leaves showing in our garden but nothing so pretty as this sakura yet - I like the last shot with the warm background colours particularly

Hi Sophie. I don't mind rushing toward spring, though I could use a bit more time for planning the garden. I'm still making seed lists. (But based on recent Twitter activity, I don't think I'm alone.)

A large weeping willow tree is in the background in the last photo. The composition was a happy accident. I was trying to find a patch of blue sky. I settled for a yellow-brown background instead :-).

Oh, these are so lovely. Makes me long for spring--it is still a ways off here.

Hello, Kateri. I've just returned from your blog (I'll be adding some comments to your posts a bit later) and see you've been enjoying seasonal beauty in your part of the world -- Michigan. Spring may be a long way off but your skies are gorgeous!
