small stone: january 1
Sunday, January 2, 2011
We're at the beginning,
of a new year,
a new writing project,
a commitment,
doubts...
We wanted to stay indoors,
in warm, familiar, comfortable surroundings.
But we crossed the bridge late today --
the colour and light lured us,
amazed us.
"It's a good omen" said a fellow dog walker we met on the other side.
Can I bend the rules & let this photograph be my small stone for January 1st?
But, if you insist, I'll try a few words:
apricot & tangerine,
indigo & aubergine,
diamonds & sapphires,
platinum & gold
brilliant, bejewelled, richly-hued
sea & sky

Oh yes to the colours you've used to describe the sky. They are perfect. So many colours and hues, that it takes a while to really see them all.
As to doubts, about a new project. I'm with you there. I've started my new project with a head full of doubts. But I'm trying to see that as part of the process, part of the discovery and challenge. If it was easy you and I would be doing these things already?
It's all about pushing yourself out, occasionally, from the "warm, familiar, comfortable surroundings" isn't it really?
Yes, I agree, so many colours in this sunset -- naming them helped me see them all.
One of the reasons I decided to participate in a river of stones is that doing reverb10 helped me realized how often I experienced joy in the ordinary moments.
But...I do find it hard to find the words...it's a bit like extracting wisdom teeth (I'm recalling that experience now, ouch).
I love your janathon journal. When I read it yesterday, well, first of all I thought Kathryn is such a brilliant writer and then, she's experiencing some "small stone" moments.
